Trump: Tap Dancing Lessons Mandatory For White House Employees

(Washington, D.C) – The White House Human Relations Department today revealed that all new hires will be required to begin tap dancing lessons within 90 days of their first day of employment.

This mandate comes on the heels of a series of blunders that have plagued the Trump administration starting twenty years prior to his inauguration as President. Trump himself was the king of blunders until he hired press secretary Sean Spicer, who has raised the art of the blunder to a level not seen since Bob Dylan’s 1970 album, “Self Portrait.”

Current White House employees are engaging in daily mentoring sessions that include watching films of Fred Astaire, Bojangles Robinson, Sandman Sims, and Gregory Hines. Savion Glover provides weekly lessons for the staff, as well as two-hour daily private lessons for Spicer.

This move is a radical shift in domestic policy for the President, who has habitually refused to acknowledge any need for shuffling. To more quickly acclimate employees with the new policy, a glossary and talking points have been prepared. Terms such as “cramp roll,” “drawback,” “toe stand,” “hop shuffle,” “rubber legs,” “sham,” and “tanglefoot” are becoming common language in the White House hallways.

Kelleyanne Conway, counselor to the President,  has refused to take the classes. “I’ve been doing this stuff professionally for years. I know when to keep my mouth shut. I usually only mess up a word or two; no big deal. Remember, as has been pointed out many times, Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, except backwards and in high heels. I’m way ahead of the game, and as backwards as a person can be compared with my esteemed compatriots.” While no one is certain of the exact meaning and intent of Conway’s remarks, it is generally held that they must be somehow offensive to someone.

After the White House staff completes their basic training, the Treasury Department will be next, starting with the secret service. As of today, it was not known whether the secret service will be required to wear tap shoes while on duty.
