Federal Employees to be Exempt From Paying Income Tax

(Washington, D.C.) – President-Extant Donald Trump has revealed that under his soon-to-be-proposed tax plan, employees of the U.S. Federal Government will no longer be subject the taxes on their income.

It is needless to say that this is a bold move. The absence of an estimated twenty-two million workers from the income tax system will have far reaching impacts on the U.S. economy and the pay balance between civilian and private-sector workers.

“This is just the right thing to do; the right thing,” the President-Extant said in his weekly radio address.”All of these workers are being paid by the Federal Government. Where does the Federal Government get the money to pay these people? Taxes. Taxes. Money that come from taxing people. What sense does it make to tax money that has already been taxed? To tax taxes? NO sense. From here on, we’re going to have only taxes that make sense.”

This new tax law will in effect give raises to most Federal employees. The exception to this is anyone who is paid at the GS-15 grade level, which includes many of the most talented, learned and effective Federal employees. GS-15 salary is capped at level V of the Federal Executive Pay Schedule. With base-pay plus locality pay of up to 28% of income, most high-step GS-15’s cannot by law collect bonuses, as the extra money would put them over the pay cap. Removing the income tax entirely from GS-15’s may actually result in lower salary, as many rely on tax loopholes and pre-tax contributions in order to lower their effective salary.

The President-Extant anticipated the GS-15 issues, and spoke about them later in his address. “As you rise up in the ranks of public service, you become more of a public servant. When you are a servant, you don’t expect to be paid. I don’t take a salary, and I’m at the top of the totem pole. GS-15’s should get that through their heads if they ever want to enter the Senior Executive Service. Those folks often times have less salary and benefits than GS-15’s. Stop being self-serving, and give back.”

Many GS-15’s and Senior Federal employees have, in fact, taken this to heart by retiring from government service to become government contractors, making on the average %50 more than their government counterparts, all at the government’s expense. Those who had the sense to take to military-to-civilian-to-contractor path are the most fortunate. Having served their country well, it is time to collect.
